Hunting season
Jon has just turned 2 years old but he'll be considered as a 3 years old boy when he goes to 'school' next year. His poh poh keep discouraging me from sending him to school at such young age.... her pleas normally are:
1. He is so young
2. What if he needs a diaper change?
3. What if he gets hungry?
4. He knows how to say 'o-ench' (for orange)
5. He won't be able to get up in the morning
I feel that Jon is quite ready (or my mind is playing tricks on me) for school. Took him to visit 1 kindergarten today and he seems quite excited. I think because there are so many stuffs for him to explore. Going to another one tomorrow. Gosh, I don't want to feel 'kiasu' or pressured over this. Afterall, its just going to be a play school for him. At least for 1 year. But he might like the school and might want to continue staying in that school after 1 year, so choosing a good school is important, I guess.
I like to bring him along during these visits to his future 'school' to-be and let him check it out the environment because he won't be settled in the new environment if he doesn't like it. Won't want to waste my $$ if he refuse to go to school later on.
So many things to consider (education systems, skills that he will learn, qualified teachers, good & secured school environment and etc) .... its even harder than me going to school!!
So at this stage, I'm going to concentrate finding a school that:
- Jon will be happy to be in
- will help him improve his motor and social skills
- will help him focus on a task given
- will help him to be more independent
Good for now la. He is just 2 years old....
