Birthday

This is a belated post. Stealing some minutes during lunch break to post this.
I think I score at being the most absent-minded mom. Jon’s school usually set a day in a month to celebrate that month’s babies. I’ve been looking forward to Oct (Yup, its Jon’s birthday and he was sick! Will blog on this soon) and have a few things in my mind. This is what I wanted to do:
- On Jon’s birthday, send over a cake so that he can celebrate it with his teachers and day care buddies (a bunch of cute kids)
- To send over cake, goody bags for his classmates during the birthday party organized by the school

And this is what happened…
On his birthday, I was very tired (caring for sickly Jon), it was raining heavily in the evening and I was having a mild migraine (a poor excuse). All I could get was a not-so-nice cake from a bakery nearby to have a simple celebration at home. Before I could show Jon his cake, he was asking “Mummy, I want to eat cake”. Sigh, we still need to bath and feed him. And bath and feed ourselves. So, quickly get him cleaned and fed, and light the candles. Before we could do anything, Jon was wailing away for no reason and not wanting to go near the candles. He cried too when we did the same thing at my in-laws place (early celebration). We thought he was cranky then. Hmm…. I think he is afraid of the lighted candles which I have no idea why.

The school brought forward the party (I forgot to double check). So I totally missed it! I just bought some stuffs and pack them into bags (didn’t manage to get the party bags). Bought a simple cake earlier to share with his friends. That is all I could do.

(Yup...the kids will be having junk food. No worries, I packed some healthy food too - raisins)
But kids being kids, they are just happy to get something to eat/ play with. And Jon was happy to help me pack his goody bags eventhough it was not as colourful as I wanted it to be.
