I am getting worried now...

A long long time ago, whenever there are any health related issues or crisis, our dear Health Ministers would "jump out of their chairs" (hehehe...just imagine ya) and quickly take necessary actions to confine/ resolve the issue ASAP. Our health le, no joke ok. So, I lurve and hold our ex-Health Ministers with high regards. Kinda fatherly actions on protecting his children from being hurt - health wise.

But today's news kinda shocked me. First it was this (The Star):


China toxic milk powder kills 3, thousands sick

(Reuters) - China said on Wednesday a third infant had died after drinking contaminated milk, while the number of sick rocketed and an official said the health threat had been hidden for at least a month.
The number of children ill after drinking milk carrying the compound melamine had risen nearly
five-fold to 6,244, and those with "acute kidney failure" reached 158, Health Minister Chen Zhu told a news conference

I have this huge huge reservation over products of China since a long long time ago. Hubby accused me of not being fair and one-track mind. Well, my gut feelings tell me that they don't have proper QA in place for their products. Seriously, so many incidents. It can't be coincidence, right?

Then today (The Star):

Milk is safe, says Fonterra
PETALING JAYA: Fonterra Brands Malaysia has assured all customers that its milk products in Malaysia are 100% safe.
In a statement, the company’s general manager, John McKay, said consumers could buy
their brands, Anmum, Ferleaf, Anlene, Chesdale and Anchor with absolute confidence.
“The issue relating to the safety of China milk powder products is confined only to products made from China-sourced raw milk sold by San Lu in mainland China.”

I am either blind, stupid or totally ignorant for not realising that the troubled company has presence in Malaysia. No one mention about it! I read reports saying that its only in China. I know, the milk is only distributed in China, BUT.... I would expect that our Health Ministry would reassure us about it or request the company to make announcements like that weeks ago. Don't wait till something happens. The company should be an accountable! Don't chicken out on social responsibilities! (OK, I am over reacting here) There are a lot of examples of companies that did total recall of products or quickly make explainations to the public if there is any doubt in using their products.
I want our ex-Health Ministers back!!! <--- this is being emotional

Monday blues..

Who doesn't experience any Monday blues before please don't read this post. Today, the sky is extra dark, extra gloomy, extra hazy and my mood is extra blue... with extra loads of laundry waiting to get dry. Bummer.

I'm just not looking forward to anything today.
Its school holidays.
And I still have to send Jon to day care.
Its Monday blues...

I just don't have the heart to do so.
My mom is a full-time mom which means my bro and I never spent a day in day care. Therefore, I never knew how to part with my son this way. It just sucks.
Blame it on the Monday blues....

We were all excited during the weekends.
To be with each other.
And now, each have to go their own ways.
Dang the Monday blues...

I HATE MONDAYS. Poor Monday. Someone has to be blamed. It might as well be you.

(This is not a poem.. don't try to correct the structure or the grammer. Its just Monday blues.)

Psst... never name your child Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday or any other day...

Wanted: Toddlers car seats

My brother and family is coming back soon and he needs 2 car seats for his 3.5-year old daughter and almost 2-year old son. Appreciate is somebody can loan me their extra/ no longer in use car seat. Or anyone wants to sell theirs (not so expensive la cos they will be using it for 1 month only).

On Off On

Nah... not the lights. I've been following the free water news closely. Not to say that RM11+ matters a lot to us (yet) but it is still savings... which has to go to the electricity bill later on, sigh (thank god never fix another air-cond in the house). We just want to see how it will work out. Hope that it will ease the burden of many people. So now, our aim is to control water usage up to 20 cubic mtr. Can? Cannot? Hey, a motivation to save water... and save the earth. Hehehe.

So, on or off? We'll see when the bill comes ya! So dramatic. Like DH only. Relationships, on or off?

Hopeless shopaholic

This time the damage done was at MJ warehouse sale. Didn't plan to go but the reviews were kinda tempting and Shida just sat for a very tough paper the day before. So unknowingly, we found ourselves on the way there without any clue of what to get.

Being such a good "shopper", (our husbands claimed that we can shop practically anywhere and at anytime) we both ended up spending more than RM100 each. Well, what do you do when a branded sexy looking top cost only RM10+ or even less than that? I kinda regretted not going during the first day of sales cos I feel that most of the nicer ones were taken. But overall, it was just a so-so sale.

As for being a shopaholic, well, realising that I am one is a step to recovery. Right?

Balloning exprience

Last weekend, we were at MV.
As usual there were some kids having some free balloons.
As usual, Jon wanted to grab other kid's balloons.
As usual, the parents will try to look high and low for these free balloons.
As usual, we manage to "grab' some balloons for Jon.

The one place balloons were given out freely was in front of C4 where DBKL (I think) was having some community service kind-of-thing. Actually, I was aiming for the balloons and was not paying attention on the activities. After getting the balloons, we were ushered to the measuring station to measure Jon's height and weight. Then the "community service" lady did a short consultation on Jon's growth chart. Weight... ok. Height... ok. Good he is in the correct range for his age. Then comes the other skills... climb stairs... ok. Write... ok. Speech... hmm... need improvement. Thank God I realise that problem way before, so I did not get paranoid about it.

It was good that someone has come up with this "community service" stint. It would be better/ helpful if there are pamphlets for the parents to refer to in case of any problem with the child, ie. speech problems. Maybe they could recommend some solutions like going for a hearing test, speech test (if there is any) or constructive ways to communicate with your child to encourage him to talk more and etc. Oh well, one step at a time.

Raining in the house

Non-stop lightning and thunder. Strong wind. These add on to my fear when the weather takes a sudden turn and starts to rain after a very hot afternoon. The abrupt change of weather (from extreme hot to cold) signals for lightning and thunder to strike non-stop. The main fuse in my house was tripping like nobody business and to make things worse, water started to "pour" in as well. Well, the leaking happened in a few spots in the house causing us running helter skelter for cloth and buckets to contain the imminent flood. Till at one point we just stand around in the dark and play the wait-and-see game. The weather went calmer, the leaking stops and the fuse stop tripping. Thank God! I know this will pass... just hope that it passes by real quick before more damage happens.

I think it is because of the location of my house which is on slightly higher ground that always manage to catch the strong vicious wind of our current weather. There was once, roof tiles flew off from a few houses in this area but normally, the strong wind manage to cause the zinc cap to open up and allowing rain water to go into the house. I hope the roof tiles are still intact.

I believe that this weather is permanent and will grow to be harsher by the day. Hot afternoons are just so hard to go by without air conditioning the house. It may sound like we are pampered lot but seriously... the heat is rising each year. Sigh, I just don't know what else we can do to help this situation.

Free water?

Nope. Not free... totally. My new state government has announced to provide water for free for the first 20 cubic-meter. Which amounts to... some amount of money (I need to check the water bill). I hope that the public gets the news loud and clear. At the same time, it will promote the use of less water so that:

1. You don't want to pay for water. That is, use up till almost 20 cubic-meter and you are free from any water bills.

2. You don't waste water. Again, use only 20 cubic-meters of water, don't go more... hehehehe. And you will help conserve water! Good le... don't play play... with water.

Malaysia GE2008

The whole nation is in the general election mood. I'm not that crazy about politics but I've never missed any election ever since I'm eligible to vote. Some people are not that concerned about who won and who lost. Personally, its not about who is going to win. Its about basic human rights in a free & democratic country. The nation has come this far, blood and lives have been sacrificed for us to have this priviledge. My message is, "Just vote".

New Year, New Look

Since Chinese New Year is about new things, I thought of giving the blog a new look. I hope I don't have to do that every New Year... hahahaha. The main motivation for me to do this is because I've been doing some housekeeping of the sites I regularly visit. So, there I was organizing my favourite links and having used to have quick links easily accessible, I decided to make my lil'Chomel my default home page. And to make my life easy, have all my favourite links in my lil'Chomel as well (since I will access my lil'Chomel on daily basis anyways).

Currently, there aren't that many sites that I frequent. I'm not that happening... yet. But some of my Chi Muis started introducing me to food-blogs (cos we always have problem looking for interesting places to have our dinners). The owner of these blogs are utterly kind to share their food tasting experience with everyone. And there is the Mummy Space. It is about blogs written by mothers sharing good and practical parenting tips. This space sometimes becomes my source of motivation when I bump into problems with Jon.

Talk is cheap

Now I trully know the meaning when they say "Talk is cheap". How cheap? 0 cents actually. Calls and smses from principal line to supplementary line offered by a mobile service provider are free for certain amount of minutes. That literally defines this tagline "Talk is cheap". So, lets do some cheap talking...


NATO:

Stands for No Action, Talk Only. One can say/ promise everything under the without actually doing anything. Sweet promises like "I'll be there for you" and "I'll do whatever you ask me to do" will melt any girl's heart. But if its just NATO, ceh, talk to the hand.


Remote control:

When one likes to instruct rather than doing it. For example, say "bring me a cup" and the cup will appear in front of you. Similar to the mechanism of a TV remote control, press a channel, and the TV's channel will be changed. Hmm... now it sounds more like "ask and it will be given". I'm neither a maid (1st scenario) nor am I, God (2nd scenario). Some people apply method this in child care. They will go around instructing the child to do things like go to sleep, pick up toys, etc and go on like this for the whole day! Voila, child care made easy.


I know everything:

This happens when one try to tell you to do things that they don't practice. For example "Oh, its normal for kids to fall". Well, hell, the parents will feel the pain when the kid gets sick or break a leg.


I don't know anything:

There were a few occasions where Jon choked when my previous maid tried to feed him water. After that I asked her to use baby spoon instead (so that the amount of water scooped will be less). Then one day, I heard Jon choked while the maid was feeding water again. So, I asked her why didn't she use the baby spoon? She replied "Baby bagi spoon besar". I nearly fainted. So I asked her "Umur baby 2 tahun, you? 2 tahun jugak?". In this case, saying that you didn't know anything is way to cheap for me.

Busy Body (Ke Po Ci)

**This is a true story based on real characters but not you guys who are reading this la. Sorry guys, nak melepaskan geram kat sini.**

I got a shock when someone commented me on something that happened in my house. I was like, "Why people like to make judgment on something based on their limited info?". Why judge people? If they make it their business to do so, keep it to themselves la. Argh. Really ticked me off man. I always believe that we are not here to judge other people but at the end of our lives, we'll be the ones that are going to be judged. So, we are not suppose to play judge. Just keep the dang comments to yourself la. Is it that hard?

Never make assumptions based on incomplete facts/ info. They don't really know what actually happened in my house... unless they have a spy camera somewhere that I don't know la.

All I can do is just to forget about what they say and choose my friends wisely (Thank God that I have friends like you guys... hehehehe... muah muah). Life still goes on.

Anyways, what goes around comes around. Right?

New Kid On The Block

At last, the Maclaren Volo buggy I ordered came. Yup, I have to order it cos it seems like it is so popular, it gets out of stock very easily. So, we (Jon's auntie and I) made our way to the shopping mall just to get it before it goes out of stock again. Well, actually she is the one who recommended me on this model. There are a few colours to choose available at that time - black, crimson and turquoise. Guess which colour I got for Jon?

It is what it claimed to be (and thanks to Jon's auntie for her recommendation).
Light weight - yes
One hand fold - yes after a few attempts
All in all, it moves easily with Jon sitting on it! I don't have to work my poor muscles.

The sun came shining

At last, the sun is out. These days, you'll be lucky to get half a day of hot sun to dry your clothes. But today, they sky is clear blue with scattered clouds. I got up early cos Jon wants to see his father off to work ... and when his father left, he cried and cried. Daddy left him at home. He has been quite clingy lately. I hope that it is just a transition.

So, I decided to wash loads of stuffs today. Mainly curtains la. Don't dare to overwork my new super canggih washing machine :D . Esok masih ada ...

Why I want to start blogging? Why not?
1. I don't have a flair in writing
2. I'm quite reserved - don't like to 'ke po' about other people's affair and vice-versa
3. lots more.... but I'll stop here. Don't want people to be discouraged in blogging (inclusive of mua)

So I told myself, go for it! Have fun! And here I am .. still trying to figure out what to write.. gambatte!
