Jalan-jalan cari makan

Our next destination was Ipoh. It was more of a jalan-jalan cari makan trip with the whole bunch, ourselves plus my PIL, SIL and my mom. Hubby had been to Ipoh a lot of times and always enjoyed the food there (maybe because its not too spice, just to his liking). We drove up before noon so that we would be able to stop by Bidor town for its famous "Ngap Thui Meen" (Duck thigh mee) but I had wan tan mee. Aisehman... should ordered the dried ngap thui meen cos the soup was delicious. Since it was a public holiday (Hari Raya Haji) and school holidays (double whammer!), eating in restaurants was like fighting in the war zone. In summary, we had:

Lunch - "Ngap Thui Meen" (Duck thigh mee) in Bidor
Tea - "Yim Kok Kai" (Salted Chicken)
Dinner - Onn Kei "Nga Choi Kai" (Ipoh Chicken Rice with bean sprout)

Must not forget, we bought some pamelos as well from the fruit shop next door. The night was slightly chaotic as the rain added to the craziness. Of course at this stage, I realised that I will be miss drinking my favourite Ipoh White Coffee. The taste of the coffee being prepared in the shop compared to the pre-packed commercialised white coffee that they sell in supermarkets are very different.

Next day, we had breakfast before heading back to KL. My SIL brought us to Foh San restaurant for "Tim Sum". Again, there are quite a number of people standing around waiting for tables to be emptied. We finally got a table and we ate and ate and ate. My FIL was so nice to walk a few rounds to the kitchen area trying to get my favourite "Lor Mai Kai" (Steamed chicken and glutinous rice) for me. Jon likes that as well, but his appetite was just not there during this trip. Maybe there were so many people to play with him, food is the last thing on his mind. I got my sesame see ball with lotus seed paste fillings. It was simply delicious.

After breakfast, its back to KL. But the food journey has not ended yet. We stop by Ikano and The Curve. Had late lunch at Uncle Lim's and bought some doughnuts from the new Big Apple. It was kinda fun as everyone gets to choose 2 flavours.

It was really an interesting experience especially to share it with my family members. Until the next jalan-jalan cari makan...
