Origins goes organics

Organics products promotes healthy living through the absence of pesticides and other harmful chemicals used. Personally, it means less contamination to our body and our environment.

I've been supportive of the idea of using organics products in our daily lives and hate the use of pesticides for anything. But growing crops organically can be costly and could cause some strain to the pockets. Therefore, I only go for them when its really worth while. I was very delighted to read about Origins new range based on organics products. I admire the high standards they have placed in their products and won't settle for less. Looks like even beauty range is going organics. My thoughts on the +ve and -ve side of this new fad.

1. Is there any regulation to regulate the production of organic produce?
Shops selling organic products are mushrooming everywhere. I wonder if the produce that they have gotten are truly organic cos I don't think there is a regulated body (government or private practice) overseeing the processes involved. No regulations will encourage abuse.

2. How can it benefit us?
No pesticides means less pollution and contamination. Healthy lives. Do you know of anyone who had cancer? That is how serious critical illness has taken a toll in our lives due to our lifestyles.

More people buying this range of products will cause the prices for these products to go down. At the same time, help our farmers in this industry which can potentially be a source of export revenue.

3. Awareness! awareness!
Just like recycling program in this country which we see the birth and half-deadness (neither here nor there attitude) of it within a few years of its birth (much more can be done folks!), it should be made aware to the people how this can benefit them. Of course, the government can encourage farmers to farm organically by giving certain incentives to them.

4. Organic vs fair trade
A friend of mine (who is a MNS member) always remind us to try to our level best to buy fair traded products. And I am delighted to know that the store I frequent supports this.

So, what's next? Do give it a try... I mean organic produce. If its not for mother earth, then for yourself and your family. And remember to recycle! Will write on that soon... "How easy to recycle".

I do support recycle & organic products. Just that organic = pricey skit kan...tak guna baja pun mahal, maybe sbb nak kena halau ulat 1 by 1. Anyway, apa kata i start planting hidroponic vege and supply for others with lower price than Jusco? ;)
