Bangkok..here we come
My sistas and I planned for this trip since Sept 2007. We bought AirAsia promo tickets and waited and waited and waited. The day finally came and off we go! It was an early flight. We did not encounter any problems with the airline. We reached earlier than the scheduled time which means more time to do shopping. Yeah! Oh ya, this is more a shopping trip than anything but we got more than we bargained for. Overall, it was a superb trip. Of course with Shida's experiences in BKK, her good sense of directions and her meticulous homework for this trip, we can't go wrong.
Shida has all the itineraries on her blog. Do check it out. I won't want to repeat what she wrote but this is my take of Bangkok.
1st stop - Pratunam Market
Since it was still early, we head to Pratunam, a shopping haven. A walk there from our hotel would expose you to many interesting things to see, eat and buy. There were carts selling food, fruits, clothes, bags, hair accessories... you name it, its there. Pratunam is mostly a wholesale market. Our first target was to get 100% cotton pyjamas for our kids, nieces, nephews. I paid RM30 for the same pyjama at The Curve weekend market. In Pratunam, these pyjamas cost about RM10 (for bigger size) each. Crazy! Shida and I bought 1 dozen each. About 4 to 5 pairs per kid. And bought some for my mom. It cost me RM14.50 - RM16.50 for adult size pyjamas. My mom bought almost similar cotton pyjamas at The Curve (again!) for RM70!

All that shopping made us hungry... we had lunch at a Lebanese restaurant. Both of us had Spicy Beef Fried Rice with Basil Leaves. I am a great fan of muslim food and the food is simply 'ho chiak'. I never expect that basil leaves can be so sweet! I love them in vietnamese beef noodle and they tasted even nicer in fried rice (I suspect they put in some fish sauce as well).
A hearty meal just made me too lazy to walk back, not to forget with our "catch-of-the-day" ~ bags full of clothes. So we took a tuk-tuk back. This is my first time in a small tuk-tuk. They have a bigger version in Haadyai. I think that one can fit around 6 passengers. This little tuk-tuk is even more exciting than sitting on a bike. Oh ya, you can take a ride back on a motorbike as well! Kinda like motorbike taxi.

Chinatown
After a quick freshing-up, we are off again. This time to Chinatown. We were kinda late as some of the shops are getting ready to close as soon as we arrived. I think the eating outlets rule the night life in Chinatown.
to be continued...
