Potty training journey
Mom and I tried to potty train Jon for a long time. Considering Jon is kinda late in expressing his need to shhh shhh (to piss), we struggle-give-up-struggle-again during the whole process.
Started with not wearing diapers for Jon. Brought Jon to the toilet so that he can do his ahem... "business". But instead, he'll have a fun time playing with the water and get himself all wet. Ended up with "accidents" on the floor.
Then, we gave up. The teachers at school hinting me to toilet train Jon cos they will do the same in school as well. Can't just expect the teachers alone to train him, now can we... hehehe. Lazy mother! So, we went on with the struggle-give-up-struggle-again routine. This time around, Jon insisted to have his diapers on because he dare not pee in his pants. And he can't pee in the toilet as well. Maybe, he is not use to pee into the air. But I have to be mean for his own good. No diapers for him. So, sometimes when he need to pee, he'll be making a fuss (all sorts of funny whinny sounds and walking around aimlessly). A sign for us to wear diaper for him so that he can go on with his "business". When we don't put his diapers on after his bath, he'll refuse to wear his pants and keep screaming "no... no... diapers diapers". Hey, since when you know how to say diapers ah?
My SIL recommended for Hubby to "show" him how to do it. LOL. It makes sense. So, during the weekend, it was Hubby's job to train him. The default question posed by me when they come out from the bathroom:
Me: "So, pee or not?"
Hubby: "No la! Play water got la"
This Q&A thing went on for the whole weekend. The anxiety mounts to the situation similar to delivering a baby (seriously, I was so anxious). Finally, Jon manage to pee for the first time. Yay. I was so happy. But after the weekend, no more. How leh like that?
The struggle continues. We keep asking him and brought him into the bathroom to let him pee every hour. Nothing. Then things improved, he was able to tell us when he needs to shhh shhh. Brought him to the bathroom but still nothing. Finally, today he manage to pee in the bathroom whole day (what a record!) and not wetting his pants even once. I am so happy. 1 milestone achieve.
But we have not won the battle as yet, Jon still can't poo in the toilet.

I think mia would be ready cos she does not have any speech problem, thus able to understand instructions. Belasah ajer. Can save some $$ on diapers. "Accidents" will sure bound to happen. Cos maybe mia might miss it "coming". Maybe for that period of time you can keep your carpets first... hehehe. I see what ppl do is to bring the kid to the bathroom every 30-45 mins. Start training her during weekends. At least 2 full day of training. All the best!
